  3. This is the evaluation version of VirusNet, a complete
  4. anti-virus and disaster recovery system from Safetynet, Inc.
  5. VirusNet detects known and unknown viruses.  Its disaster
  6. recovery feature can revive workstations that fail to boot.
  7.  
  8. This eval is identical to the retail PC version except that:
  9. * "For Evaluation Only" is displayed on several screens.
  10.  
  11. You may use this demo for evaluation purposes only.  The evaluation
  12. period is 30 days.  Contact Safetynet, Inc. if you need additional
  13. time to complete your evaluation.

  18. ========================= VirusNet Features =========================
  19.  
  20. Multi-Platform Support
  21. ----------------------
  22. VirusNet is shipped with Windows and DOS versions.  It is
  23. compabible with DOS, network, NTFS and HPFS drives.  VirusNet
  24. supports all major networks including Netware, NT Advanced Server,
  25. Vines, LAN Manager, LAN Server, Pathworks, and Windows for Workgroups.

  27. Known Virus Detection
  28. ---------------------
  29. The VirusNet Secure scan recently received outstanding
  30. detection scores of 99.2% in the Lambdin test and 96% in the
  31. VSUM test.  Dual signatures allow it to accurately detect viruses
  32. without producing false alarms.  Advanced algorithms are used to
  33. detect mutation, stealth and polymorphic viruses.

  35. Unknown Virus Detection
  36. -----------------------
  37. VirusNet uses heuristic and checksum scanning to detect unknown
  38. viruses.  Its heuristic scanner can detect unknown viruses by
  39. determining if a program contains suspicious or destructive code. It
  40. is highly effective at detecting new viruses.

  42. Checksum scanning is used to detect changes in program files and
  43. boot tracks.  It is highly effective at detecting new viruses.  An
  44. Exclude Files option eliminates false alarms.
  45.  
  46. Disaster Recovery
  47. -----------------
  48. If a PC's hard disk becomes corrupted, or its CMOS battery fails,
  49. the Rescue Disk feature can quickly revive the PC.  Rescue Disk
  50. maintains each workstation's boot track, CMOS, and partition table.
  51. This information can be stored for all PCs in a central database
  52. on the network or on a floppy diskette.  When a workstation fails
  53. to boot, use Rescue Disk to restore the workstation in seconds!
  54.  
  55. Spectrum Scanning
  56. -----------------
  57. The VirusNet scanner can be run automatically at predefined
  58. intervals when Windows starts, or after a period of system
  59. inactivity.  It provides transparent protection against viruses.
  60.  
  61. VirusNet LAN Features
  62. ---------------------
  63. VirusNet LAN includes Safetynet's LAN Scheduler & Distribution
  64. system (LANSD).  LANSD provides network control over workstation
  65. scanning and software updates.  Scans can be performed during
  66. workstation bootup, network login, or in the background from Windows.
  67. Events such as tape backups and modem transfers can also be
  68. scheduled.  Software distribution for up to 100 programs and 100,000
  69. files is provided.  LANSD installs itself to each workstation and
  70. automatically makes changes to each AUTOEXEC.BAT and WIN.INI file as
  71. required.
